CHICAGO (January 25, 2022) – Today the National Independent Soccer Association proudly announces its clubs participating in the return of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States. The 10 clubs taking to the pitch this summer include:
1) ALBION San Diego
2) Bay Cities FC
3) Cal United Strikers FC
4) Chattanooga FC
5) Flower City Union
6) Los Angeles Force
7) Maryland Bobcats FC
8) Michigan Stars FC
9) AC Syracuse Pulse
10) Valley United FC
"After two years of missed competition due to the pandemic, we are eager for the return of the U.S. Open Cup," says NISA Commissioner John Prutch. "Each of these clubs highly anticipates the competition from both other pro clubs and the best amateur sides in the nation."
Stumptown AC, Chicago House AC, and New Amsterdam FC will not participate in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
All NISA sides will enter the 107th edition of the Cup in the second round April 5-7. Match-ups and potential match-ups are expected from U.S. Soccer this week. Round 1 matches start March 22-23.
