WASHINGTON, Mich. (November 6, 2022) – Michigan Stars FC lifted the 2022 National Independent Soccer Association championship trophy here this evening after downing ALBION San Diego 1-0.
The winning moment came at the 30-minute mark when an Anthony Bowie header found the back of the net. As it has done all year, MSFC capitalized off a set piece, this time a corner off the boot of Steven Juncaj.
From there, it was MSFC’s defense held tight. ALBION’s best opportunity came in the first half when forward Mayele Malango broke free for a chance on the right just inside the 18yard box/ But an aggressive, sliding close by MFSC keeper Tatenda Mkuruva thwarted the shot.
Kids were free, but the crowd estimate was 1,178, announced as a club record – on a night they all got to see the home club raise the hardware.
