CHICAGO (October 2, 2024) – Today the National Independent Soccer Association announced revised 2024 playoff details to accommodate the three clubs earning participation – Los Angeles Force, Irvine Zeta FC, and Michigan Stars FC. The league regrettably announces Maryland Bobcats FC is ineligible as it is not in compliance with the league nor the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Maryland was the top club in the league throughout the season. It dropped one league match all year – a 2-0 decision on May 4 at Michigan. The playoffs will proceed with three clubs seeded in order of points earned: No. 1 seed Los Angeles Force (LAF), No. 2 seed Irvine Zeta FC (IZFC), and No. 3 seed Michigan Stars FC (MSFC).
IZFC will host MSFC in a semi-final at 7:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, October 12 at Championship Stadium in Irvine, Calif. The winner will play LAF in the championship match. That match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, October 19 at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach, Calif.
The semi-final match with be the first meeting between IZFC and MSFC. IZFC gave LAF a run for the money taking a win and two ties over the six-match series. MSFC’s last match against LAF was October 12, 2023 – a 1-0 win at home. Stars also hold the historical record against LAF with a 4-3-2 advantage.
