CHICAGO (October 10, 2024) – Maryland Bobcats FC forward Darwin Espinal earned his first National Independent Soccer Association Golden Boot award, while Los Angeles Force (LAF) keeper Seth Torman grabbed his first Golden Glove. All statistics are analyzed by NISA official stats partner Wyscout.
Espinal notched a league-leading 13 tallies after finishing as runner-up in 2023 with 11. His offensive output earned him Player of the Month honors twice in 2024, as well as two appearances on Best XI. Espinal recorded a brace on May 12 against Club de Lyon FC (CDL) and Sept. 14 against Michigan Stars FC (MSFC). On July 17, he recorded the first hat trick of the NISA season also against CDL. LAF’s Michael Salazar finished runner-up this year with nine goals.
Torman edged out Irvine Zeta FC’s (IZFC) Mitch North. Both had six clean sheets on the season, but it was Torman’s save percentage (75.61 percent to 71.79 percent) and average conceded goals (.7692 per match to .8462 per match). Torman also earned Best XI honors once during the season. The two have an opportunity to face off in the championship match October 19 if IZFC tops MSFC in the October 13 semi-final.
