CHICAGO (August 1, 2024) – The National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) today announced that after exhausting all avenues to find a replacement for Inter Detroit FC (ID), it awards the Independent Cup Great Lakes Region trophy to FC Milwaukee Torrent (FCMT). Inter Detroit withdrew from the tournament on claims match location and date were not suitable. The forfeit marks FCMT’s second Independent Cup title in its fourth year participating.

NISA is extremely disappointed as all logistical information was clear in the tournament operations manual, including the fact that the league determines the location of every regional final. The league named FCMT hosts as it traveled to ID last year. Both clubs and the league were mid-investigation when ID made the call to abandon the match.
